Gordon Ramsay said, "Several restaurant standard design elements are incorporated into the shapes. The plates feature a flat cross section so that cutlery does not slide across them. Embossed bands on the rim of the tableware increase in size towards the centre of the plate to draw the eye towards the eating area and enhance the presentation. I chose white as it allows diners to focus on their food."
